Biography
Roxana Mehran, MD, an internationally renowned researcher in interventional cardiovascular disease at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will be awarded the 2018 Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Leadership from WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease at the 2018 Wenger Awards in Washington on May 7. The annual Wenger Awards recognize individuals and organizations for their extraordinary contributions to women's heart health. They were named after Nanette Kass Wenger, MD, a pioneer in women’s cardiology. “Dr. Roxana Mehran has helped transform interventional cardiology and advanced gender-based understanding and opportunities in medicine—two of the hallmarks of a worthy recipient of this award," said Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Physician-in-Chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital and Director of Mount Sinai Heart.
